Bedroom Magic played at the Turf Club for “More Cowbell: Are You Ready For The Country…” with DJ Darlin’ Nikki, Prairie Sons, Comedian John Schreiner, Red Daughters, and Lasco Stroud.

Red Daughters played at the Turf Club for “More Cowbell: Are You Ready For The Country…” with DJ Darlin’ Nikki, Bedroom Magic, Prairie Sons, Comedian John Schreiner, and Lasco Stroud. These dudes have come a long way since I last saw them play at the Nomad (all the way back in 2008? whoa.). Their next show is at the 331 Club in April. Don’t miss it.

The very sweet and charming Eric Anderson, performing as Cataldo, opened:

Then Nelson Kempf, who was performing as Old Believers, took the stage and opened with an a cappella song.
After that, the merch guy/tour manager and Cataldo joined Old Believers and helped him finish off his set.

Finally, Laura Veirs took the stage with Alex Guy on viola and Nelson and Eric providing vocals and switching between guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums.

Here’s what the Cedar had to say before the event.

Hell’s Kitchen hosted a benefit concert and they donated 100% of food profits and tips to the American Refugee Committee relief and recovery efforts in Haiti. I dropped in with my folks and snapped a few photos while we ate.

(The stage lights weren’t on at Sauce and it was super dark in there, lemme tell ya.)

I had such a blast shooting this show! I arrived shortly after doors opened and was hardy enough to be among the few who stuck it out after 1am and through the three (amazing and awesome and ridiculous) “just one more song, you guys” encores done by Mike Michel and Carnage the Executioner.

The condensed version: The Electric Fetus, a record store in Minneapolis, was damaged by a tornado on August 19, 2009. The store went into debt to pay for repairs to the damage it sustained and nearly half of its floor space was closed in the months after the storm hit.

The following bands came together to support the Fetus: Peter Wolf Crier, Cloud Cult, Roma Di Luna, Total Babe, Jeremy Messersmith, Caroline Smith and The Good Night Sleeps, Trailer Trash, Ruby Isle, Unknown Prophets, and Bill Mike Band with Carnage.

I took photos and I tossed them into iMovie and here you are, about to watch the silly little slideshow that I made.

Vimeo gives you the option of watching this slideshow in full-screen mode. You so totally should, yo.

Music: “Everybody Here Is A Cloud” by Cloud Cult, “Where Has Sally Gone” by Caroline Smith and The Good Night Sleeps, and “Shape Up” by Total Babe.

I’m not the only one talking about this show: Andrea Swensson of City Pages wrote a review of the show, Star Tribune did a write-up, Leslie Plesser posted photos at vita.mn, Staciaann Photography put together a slideshow, and howwastheshow.com posted some of my photos.

Hildur Victoria played after Giravves and before Alpha Consumer at the Hex last night. You should check them out!

I’m still going through all the photographs I took last night (close to 1000!) but I wanted to get something from the show up today. These are unedited shots of the concert, backstage, and the crowd. They’re in no particular order and the movie is set to “I Know.” (You could so totally watch this in the full screen size. You know, if you wanted to.)

Photos from the concert are coming soon!

I got an email from Sean (Twinkie Jiggles) a few days ago inviting me to shoot the Heiruspecs Scholarship Fund Concert. You can see the whole set on Flickr. Here are a few of my favorites of the rehearsal with Lucy Michelle and Adam Levy:

Alexa Jones shot a rehearsal earlier in the week; you can see her photos here.
