This was my second time seeing Sondre Lerche perform at the always beautiful and recently renovated Varsity Theater in Dinkytown.
My favorite moment of the show came during the encore. Sondre eased us into his song “Modern Nature,” assuming that the audience would sing the parts originally sung by Lillian Samdal. And we did! Or at least we did until halfway through the song when the sweet voices filling the Varsity Theater trailed off. A bemused Lerche consoled the audience by noting mid-song that the part we couldn’t seem to remember wasn’t nearly as “catchy” as the rest of it.
